Dennis Hawk has recently become a certified yoga instructor. He came to yoga at the encouragement of his vocal instructor, who explained that yoga would help him strengthen his core which in turn would strengthen his voice. She was right, but there was much more.
To quote Dennis, “I showed up at the yoga studio having never practiced yoga in my life. I was handed a mat, a block, a strap and a towel by the instructor, and I went to the back corner of the studio. I thought that physically I was in pretty good shape. Quickly, I learned just the opposite. The heat had been set at 90 degrees and the Vinyasa began. I thought I was going to die! But, I didn’t. I felt better emotionally, physically, spiritually and mentally. I returned the next day, the next day and I have made yoga a part of my everyday life.”

Before Dennis began practicing yoga, he suffered from chronic debilitating arthritis; however with regular yoga practice his arthritis is very manageable.
“I continue to grow in my own yoga practice, teaching several times each week and presenting workshops and concerts for yoga studios. Yoga has become a way of life for me.”
